Digital Coherence:

The Small Business Guide to SEO, Content and Getting Found in the Age of AI

The book covers the stuff nobody else talks about — how to actually align your website, your content, and your SEO so they tell one story. It’s not about hacking the algorithm. It’s about being findable, clear, and trustworthy, especially now that AI is changing how people search.

Why I Wrote This

I kept seeing the same thing.

A business owner with a solid offer and a scattered digital presence. Website says one thing. Instagram bio says something slightly different. Email welcome sequence was written two years ago for a version of the business that doesn’t exist anymore. And the bio link? Goes to the homepage. Not the thing they’re actually selling.

None of it is terrible on its own. But together, it’s a stranger at every touchpoint.

I’ve been untangling this exact mess for nearly 30 years. At some point I realized the pattern had a name — and the fix had a framework. So I wrote it down.

Digital Coherence is that framework. It’s everything I know about making your website, your content, your SEO, and your platforms tell one clear, findable, trustworthy story. Not theory. Not “10 tips.” The actual thinking I use when I look at a business and figure out what’s broken and what to do about it.

What’s Inside

This isn’t a book about hacking the algorithm. It’s about being clear enough that the
algorithm — and the humans behind it — can actually find you and understand what you do.

Here’s what it covers:

  • How to look at your own digital presence and see what’s actually working, what’s broken, and what’s quietly costing you trust
  • Why your website, social profiles, and content need to tell one consistent story — and what happens when they don’t
  • What Google’s AI Overviews and generative search mean for your visibility — and how to adapt without losing your voice
  • How to run a coherence audit on your own site (the same framework I use with clients)
  • How to build content that gets cited by AI tools, not just indexed by search engines
  • Why regular audits matter more now than ever — and how to make them practical, not overwhelming

The book is written for business owners, not developers. No jargon. No acronym soup.

Just clear thinking you can actually use.

Who It’s For

You’ve built something real — a consulting practice, a service business, a site that’s been running for years. But the digital side got tangled somewhere along the way. You know something’s off. You just can’t see it from inside the mess.

This book gives you the eyes.

It’s for the business owner who’s smart enough to know their online presence isn’t working as a whole — and ready to do something about it. Whether you want to fix it yourself or hand the audit to someone who can help, the framework works either way.

About the Author

I built my first website in the mid-’90s — before Google existed. I’ve been doing this through every algorithm change, every platform death, every “the SEO rules just changed again” panic. I didn’t learn it in school. I learned it by building things, breaking things, and figuring out what actually works.

Digital Coherence is 30 years of that — written down, organized, and handed over so you don’t have to learn it the hard way.

I also write fiction, watch crows, and run a Substack called Unhidden where I think out loud about all of it. I’m not one thing. That’s the whole point.

Read the book first. If you want help implementing it — an audit, a clarity session, or someone to just look at your site and tell you what to fix — that’s what I do.
